Marco Silva leaves Fulham manager amid negotiations for transfer to Benfica

Marco Silva has left his position as Fulham manager and revealed that negotiations with Benfica are ongoing.
Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed he is likely to move to Benfica after five years in charge. Silva, 48, is well advanced in contract negotiations with Benfica and is expected to reach an agreement soon. Silva's contract expires at the end of June and there has been uncertainty about his future in the final months of the season.
Silva has been offered a new three-year contract with Fulham, but is believed to be in talks for a move to Benfica. He took over as Fulham manager in 2021 and successfully led the team to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League. Under his leadership, Fulham established themselves as a stable team, finishing 10th, 13th and 11th in the Premier League. 
Fulham, who finished the season in 11th place with a win over Newcastle in their last game, have made great strides under Silva's guidance. In an open letter to fans, Silva said: "A five-year journey has come to an end. Dear fans, thank you for being with us from day one. I have always felt your support and that will never be forgotten. Fulham will always remain in my heart. I will return to Craven Cottage one day." Fulham owner Shahid Khan said: "Fulham and Silva were a great combination. But change is inevitable in football and we have been preparing for it." He added: "The talent of our team, our historic home at Craven Cottage, our loyal fans and my commitment to supporting the club make Fulham an attractive location for a new manager. We will appoint a new leader soon."
Benfica are looking for a replacement for Jose Mourinho and negotiations with Silva are currently making progress.
